Light of independence

At the 77th milestone of Bharat’s journey of  freedom it’s pertinent to think and reflect about our path and upcoming goals .

We, the people , conceived the collective idea of a developed strong Bharat , where every man woman and child can have a life with dignity , and may dare to dream for anything.

Our Hon. Prime minister have aptly embodied this spirit in panch pran ( the five vows ) :

1-A resolution of developed India
2. Removing any trace of the colonial mindset
3. Taking pride in our legacy
4. Our strength of unity
5.  Fulfilling the duties of citizens with honesty

With the birth of a new nation , a huge chunk of western thinkers tried to prove that we as a nation won’t be able to survive , let alone thrive.
We all can proudly say with our loud voice that we all proved them wrong.

Today Bharat is the third largest economy , third most powerful army , first in terms of digital payments , first in terms of highway construction, second in steel production etc etc.

We jumped from “starting this ” to “being in top 10″ to ‘being in top 3 ” and firmly moving towards “being the first ” in all indicators.

Our comprehensive power ( combining our economic might , military might and most important might of people’s minds ) have risen significantly.

World’s largest housing program ( PM awas yojna ) , world’s most daring and comprehensive sanitation program ( swachh Bharat abhiyan ) , world’s largest tap water program ( jal jeevan mission ) , world’s biggest digital payment ecosystem ( UPI and digital India) , world’s largest employment program ( NREGA) , world’s biggest healthcare insurance program ( ayushman Bharat ) and so many other achievements are the movers of our progress into a devloped nation.

When we look into the future with the prism of our bright present , a wonderful picture emerges .

By 2047 , when we will be a 100 year young nation ( yes , youngest one in terms of mean age ) , we shall be the biggest economy , probably biggest military , largest democracy , a moderately rich nation , a climate resilient nation , a nation with most diverse yet most unified populace .

By 2047 , we shall be having 100% universal health coverage with affordable tertiary care .
Our economy shall easily surpass 10 trillion dollar value , our per capita income will surely be more than 10000 $ , we shall be having 100% literacy and a thriving skilling ecosystem.

2047 , will be resembling a transition phase of humanity in terms of climate management , Artificial intelligence based economy , space tech etc .

It shall be a beautiful time where Bharat shall be setting the path for humanity , with its head held high , with its big heart and with its core spirit of vasudhaiv kutumbkam ( whole world is our family ) , under the overarching vision of Amrit kal ( A bright era ) .

How to handle the chinese dragon ?

To bycott or not bycott Chinese items :

1- you may bycott “made in china ” but what you will do when you will realise that ” 90-95 percent components ” of ” made in India ” items are Chinese only . ( Eg : Micromax just assembles most of the Chinese materials into a smartphone and calls it indian )

2- why we want to bycott ? Because Chinese are bullying us ?
And why they are able to do so ?

Answer is : comprehensive power of China ( economic power + military power + cultural power + psychological power + innovative power ) is way more than India . ( Chinese defense budget is three times of ours and there economy is 5 times )

3- why India lacks that kind of comprehensive power ?

Well , we all are responsible .
Everytime we don’t do our work properly , we take or give bribe , we elect a corrupt and criminal politician just because of his caste or our self-interest , everytime we decide to work as a peon rather opening our own venture , everytime we decide to work in a bank or some middle man job ( acting as a Dalal cum marketing manager ) after forgetting our engineering skills , everytime we ( including me ) opt for civil services in spite of building some robot or some machine , everytime we tell our kid to go for placement intensive education rather doing something of his own ……
WE MAKE CHINA STRONGER AND INDIA WEAKER.

3- What can be done ?

Well the simplest thing we may do is to start respecting innovators and entrepreneurs ( by entrepreneurs I mean someone building something new , not those who just want to build an app and become digitalized दलाल ) .
we ought to respect scientist / teachers / humanitarians more than bureaucrats / money bags and politicians .

We should start respecting and caring for our farmers . We at cities need to reach out to villages and handhold the अन्नदाता who is compelled to suicide because of our collective apathy .

We need to teach our kids electronics / programming / manufacturing / liberal arts / criticle thinking , rather saving money to push them into coaching Mandis of KOTA and then ORN .

We need to stop treating 16 percent of minorities and 17 percent of historically oppressed communities with skepticism. We should realise the deep value of fraternity .

We need to think this nation as ours ( specially when we decide to throw garbage outside , break traffic signal , evade tax , steal government property ) .

We need to pubilcy condemn the bureaucrats and politicians who are corrupt and still justifying there corruption by most hypocritic arguments .

The key to defeat China lies in outsmarting , outworking , out-innovating China …..not in burning Chinese items for a news clip and sharing that clip via a Chinese phone .

We should first identify the deep hypcrorisy which have almost became congenital in us and then we need to get rid of.

Woes of women ( Patriarchy : a scholarly perspective )

aax0eikn661r2elpbod1

Patriarchal mindset and its influence :

It is the core reason behind molestation , sexual crimes , domestic violence , embryonic murders , bride burns , dowry etc.

Recent case of mass molestation in banglore , assassination of more than 2.5 crore girl child inside the womb or just after birth , tandoor kand where a husband literally grilled his wife , nirbhaya kand where rapists killed the girl by inserting an iron rod , everywhere at the core patriarchy is working . all these incidents are offshoots of a patriarchal mindset which pervades almost all humanity ( including both genders , yes females also have patriarchal mindsets : No bride can be burnt without mother-in-law’s complicit role ).

I wish to draw your attention towards certain startling statistics :

NCRB report (national crime records bureau ) : a crime against a woman is committed every three minutes
Every 20 minutes, a woman is raped somewhere in India.
That’s over 848 women who are either harassed, raped or killed after abduction every single day. Some are sold off to traffickers.
Child rape cases have increased by 336% in the last 10 years.
65% of Indian men believe women should tolerate violence in order to keep the family together, and women sometimes deserve to be beaten.
Marital Rape: is not a criminal offense in India.
20% of Indian men admit to forcing their wives or partners to have sex.

IMF report says that in India out of 100 men , only 27 women are involved in recognized economic activities ( 27 percent labor force participation rate brings us in same category as of saudi arabia and iran ).

Indian parliament have 9 percent women parliamentarians (lesser percentage than Pakistan and Bangladesh ) .

By definition patriarchy means : ” systemic dominance of males in social , political , economic , cultural and psychological dimensions of human society ”

Evolution :
Anthropological view is that physical superiority in terms of muscular power was the main reason behind advent of patriarchy. Some scholars like Harold Gould suggested that patriarchy was an economic response . In horticultural societies where role of women in economic activities is dominant , matriarchy exists ( female dominance ) and surprisingly these societies have moments for equality of men and to curb harassment of Males from females . If you google you will find many such news articles where men from matriarchal tribes like khasi , jaintia are fighting for there rights .
Gould further writes that with development of agriculture , role of men increased in economy and this created male dominance in this dimension . he proves this with concept of dowry , in horticultural societies where women’s role is dominant bride price is paid , while in agricultural societies where male role is dominant dowry is paid .

Ernestine friedl in her book ” man and women : an anthropological view ” provides 3 interesting insights :

1- in all societies certain degree of male dominance exists . she writes that in some societies tasks like weaving , pot making are done my males exclusively and in some societies they are considered as women’s jobs . but surprisingly the same task when performed by men have higher prestige in comparison to women who do them .

2- Due to reproductive roles , women cant be involved in warfare , as a population can sustain loss of men , but cant sustain loss of women as one man can marry multiple women and ensure society’s survival . this enhanced warfare utility consolidates male dominance .

3- In all patriarchal societies , males have superior control over goods exchange systems. as only scarce goods are exchanged , this control provides more power to men .

Religion is a social concept which reflects the general mindset of  societies in many ways . patriarchy in religion is clearly evident ( shabrimala issue , denial of women in temples in there menstrual days , considering menstrual process un-sacred or profane ).

How patriarchal mindset can be changed ?

All heinous crimes against women have there root in patriarchy . A mother who provides better food to her son in comparison to her daughter , a father who denies equal access of resources to his daughters , a husband who frowns when his wife demands help in domestic jobs , an old women who helps in extracting more dowry for her son , a sister who forgets all feminism and favors her brother over her sister in law , a boyfriend who feels irritated when his girlfriend provides equal weight age to her career as of his ……………..They all are responsible for groping and molestation of bengaluru , they all have certain role in the rape and murder of a girl in moving bus , they all are an accomplice in cold blooded murder of unborn angels . Reason is that there acts fuel the process of patriarchy , and all such heinous happenings are extreme offshoots of patriarchy only .

5 major changes which are required :

1- 33 percent reservation for women in all legislative and executive bodies

2- Society must resolve the issue of dowry . no dowry should be taken , rather an equal part in father’s property need to be given to daughter . concept of “paraya dhan ” need to go.

3- Females of all ages , in all roles must understand that any act of discrimination supported by them which causes negative impact on an women will definitely snowball on there own daughters and sisters .

4- Males must understand that all societies which had unbound patriarchy are perished . its in the interest of all humans that women must be given there rightful place.

5- All social institutions ( like religion , marriage , language , law , customs ) need to be seriously analyzed and all symptoms of gender discrimination should be removed from them , no matter how much disruptive they are .

Irony is , that the most evolved species is breaking a basic law of nature . in whole nature , all species save there mothers / female members , unfortunately we smart humans are the ones who are killing our mothers either implicitly or explicitly .

Mosaic of Thoughts : Part-1 ( Useful for general discourse and civil services )

rt

This blog have certain isolated thought bundles on contemporary issues , some subjective insights and my views on events and ideas which are coloring the sky of 21st century .

your comments are highly welcomed and sought for .

#1- On Demonetization :

Date : 13/11/2016

Due preparation for any change is needed .
Without that change wreaks havoc .
Government must do something substantial to ease the currency issue .
21 days is not a feasible timeline . It should happen in 5-6 days .
Bad implementation may cloud the good intention of any deed.

#2- On Trump’s victory in US presidential elections :

Date: 09/11/2016

Take away from trump victory :
1- Media is everything except a mirror or hint of truth .
2- wave of right wing-ism have gone global .
3- mass psychology is still beyond comprehension .
4- typical Indian method of making temple of leader is still viable and effective .( Rem trump temple at Ahmadabad )
5- Among so much uncertainty in political sphere globally , role of bureaucracy as a continuity creating balancing element need to be strengthened and reinstated .
6- no body can dare to criticize him now but America as a whole just ceased to be superpower in holistic terms , its just a military superpower .
7- world will become more of a self interest seeking place , realism will rise in trade and foreign policy .
8- trump will be decisive against China , serious confrontation is inevitable .
9- India need to be more hawkish on service sector exports, trump will reduce outsourcing .
And ultimately I think om Shanti om is at the root of trump victory . When you wish something by heart , whole universe conspires to make it happen . When trump said that he will not accept the result if he lost , universe realized his ardent wish and made him win . ( That’s the only rational explanation I can fathom right now )

#3- Demonetization

Date: 08/11/2016

Silence of two minutes for all the smartness of black money hoarders and corrupt people .
Masterstroke of modi ::
Though few shock reducing mechanisms could have been placed proactively like :
1- subsidizing pos machines so that even small vendors cud have installed them .
2- having a lot of cash depositing machines where people could have deposited notes above 500 and money wud have gone digitalised .
Guillotine reforms are good in intent , but they give much pain to common man .
Still the benefits of this action significantly outweigh the little trouble we all have to face .

#4-Indigenous technology

Date: 07/11/2016

Those who think that western technology is the only emblem of progress need to understand the optimal nature of indigenous knowledge and ingenuity of Indian rural-tribal technologies which were highly ecologically positive .
technology may differ but science is same everywhere and science promotes sustainability , which is also promoted by Indian systems

#5- NDTV one day ban

Date: 06/11/2016

News channels are to strengthen democracy , democracy is to protect rights of people , rights are well protected only if national security is intact.
In the eyes of law , all legal and biological persons are same if national security is in question . But government should also take in account the “chilling effect ” on free speech , which such bans produce .
Responsible media is the prerequisite of free media . Freedom can’t b given without accountability else it just become anarchy .

#6- Dipavali and dissonance

Date: 29/10/2016

circles-of-leadership

The golden circles of Leadership

the-golden-circles-of-leadership

It is said that true leaders follow a different communication model:

They have a three shell information categorization : outermost shell : ” WHAT ” ,

middle shell : ” HOW ” ,

inner shell :: “WHY “.

unlike normal beings who communicate from what to how to why , they do so in reverse order.

why we follow — what to why ::  because “what” is factual , objective , less analysis demanding…….’how’ is bit complex , ‘why’ is very fuzzy.

like what we do : preparing to become ias , how : by hard work n all , but why :: that’s a tough question ( and all of us know that every time to think about it , we get a different answer ).

Why great leaders follow reverse order of communicating information::

well answer lies in biology , our brain ( if we have a top view ) have outermost section having neo-cortex , which is very good at processing information , while inner part of brain comprises limbic system , which processes emotions , drives our intuition and evolves conscience .

when we tell someone , why we want to do something , we actually get his deepest empathy ( like if we tell a shopkeeper that i want to change the system of rent-seeking by marketing inspector , hence i am channelizing my energies to become a part of system , and that’s why i am preparing for IAS. )

Compare the impact of this with ( i want to become an IAS , hence i am doing hard work , so that i can change rent seeking behavior of marketing inspector )

Second one have less empathizing potential.

This principle is also very important in planning our lives :: if we first decide WHY , then go to HOW and then go to WHAT , we can definitely create better self-motivation potential . we will always retain a moral compass ( decided by WHY ) which will be critical in designing our path .

Apple in one of its strategic documents reveal that goal of company was not to make billion bucks , it didn’t start with WHAT , it had a WHY at start and the answer of WHY : was to challenge the status quo .     This end focused philosophy gives a higher degree of coherence to our actions and helps us in creating a meaningful life pattern .

The ambiguous anomaly

While thinking about India’s vision for 2050 and its relation with global situation, two factors attain the lime-light :

1- Demographic Dividend

2- Resource management

While analyzing there relation we usually limit our analysis to tangible resources , ignoring excess or lack of intangible resources.

Concerned Intangible resources :

1- Gross intelligence

2- Mental peace and satisfaction.

Few correlations concurring resources and there distribution :

1- Intelligence density =     avg IQ * population / area in sq. k.m

Possible impacts :

1-IQ is proportional to resource utilization :: leading to high natural resource consumption.

2-Mental development leads to desire for dominance , hence society will be more responsive and assertive.

3-To feed the society we need smarter systems , which if absent , may cause a high probability of social unrest , or tendency to snatch resources from other societies.

I.D  ἀ   energy consumption

I.D  ἀ   cost of government functioning

I.D  ἀ     NO.  of suicides.

Demographic dividend and its side effects:

Socio-economic profits, which an economy garners due to shift of population’s age to youth range (20-45 ) , with a smaller portion of population as a dependent one and larger portion as productive one , are considered as demographic dividend.

Increased pressure on natural resources

Though it seems quite a profitable phenomenon , it have multiple short term and long term negative effects like-

Increased possibility of social unrest due to more energy and less experience

Unsustainable development and growth may lead to sudden slowdown as demographic dividend phase will be passed.

Nut shell analysis and solution-

key message which this article wants to deliver is that a society with increased intelligence, enhanced productivity , enlarged needs can not sustain if it does’t learn the constraints , does’t follow a simple and sober life style , does’t adapt a living method with less resource consumption.

If intelligence is all about increasing speed of machines , and selling the products with compulsive marketing , then the consequential shortage of resources will be our DOWNFALL , our own power of intelligence will be our assassin. “

Solution lies In simplicity.

We The People………………………………… and our Republic

Writing after a long duration needs some pre-established foundation stones to construct upon.

here i am sharing two famous ; relevant , but contradictory quotes about republic :

“Liars and panderers in government would have a much harder time in it if so many people did’t insist on there right to remain ignorant and blindly agreeable. “

-Bill Maher

“Toleration and Liberty are the foundations of a great republic .”

-Frank L Wright

If we overview current political and social picture of India , We will Find that Those who are levareaging the second quote are the ones who are over-utilizing the first one.

Our President has shown concern on a new trend of populist anarchy ( cnt say that trend have reached to the limit of used term or still in process )

We indians are a mass of really frustrated mass of people.

we work hard , we live in scarcity , we dream , we loose………….but is this all confers us the very right to disqualify all established systems in a single sway .

will it deliver?

Gerald Ford rightly said that , let our republic be a follower of laws ; not of men.

At this significant axis of time and universe , we indians , as youngest work-force of planet earth , as largest ever democracy existed in history of mankind , must decide our paths very seriously .

We might not be as an achiever like US or europe , but in our own constraints we are champions , yes champions , i am not boasting…..we survived three wars , we survived multiple attempts to mutilate our democracy , we lived through infinite no. of divisive forces and remained united……………….WE ARE STILL TOGETHER…….and thats something which is more than an achievment.

But we should not get satisfied , neither we should get aggressive much to face anarchy…..The point of balance must be chosen wisely.

and this very balanced state , with a staggering potential of ultimate prestige and growth , can only be maintained by summation of balanced approaches of Indian youth .

a sulking youth is dangerous , a sulking and violent youth is fatal………………….a sulking but determined youth , a sulking but constructively minded youth is the need of the hour .

This Republic , This Asiatic giant , will be , must be a beacon of hope for mankind in near future .

And we must promise to ourselves to make ourselves worthy enough to take charge , to captain , to lead.

Lets Stop impressing others , Lets start inspiring them.

Lets remember what we were , Lets believe on what we can become.

 Happy Republic Day.

tremors of transition…….”impact based analyisis of radical socio-cultural changes in Indian society”

society is an open system – ” a system which have continuous interaction with outer environments and creates mutual changes via various dynamic shifting”.
open-ness of society shows the degree of vulnerability to get changed / create change with/via other societies.
this openness of society encompasses following factors–
1- economic nature of country
2– politics/government type
3– embedding of society to its old traditions and culture
4– climatic and geographical positions

such inter-societal interactions need to be watched / regulated/analyzed in order to control various social incidents.
some major incidents in today’s times like increasing cases of rapes/molestation , divorces , social unrest , anti-corruption movements , pro-secular approach of masses can be understood with candor via studying dynamic interactions of our society with other cultures.
internet, free – press , television and open economy have created some channels of inflow of western philosophic ideas and western lifestyle formats.
no society or life-style can be termed comparatively worse , but yes social transitions , if unregulated , may create some hazardous mix-ups.
actually non-inclusive growth and bi-partisan nature of education is creating a gap among two sects of population.
while metros are adapting western styles at a rapid pace , country-side is still living in abyss of deep faith and indulgence in Indian cultural and traditional ways.
its not a question of “right” or “wrong” type of life-styles , rather its a question of incompatibility between these two sects following two different trends of life and values , and this incompatibility is causing a lot of friction between these sects as they are living together but living differently.
while a girl wearing shorts don’t feel irritated at bengaluru but she almost finds herself in weird situation at kanpur , with thousand eyes gazing at her.
such types of incompatibilities are increasing as town youths comes to metros with his pre-conditioned constrained values and finds him at unease.
some of the horrendous crimes are result of this phenomena.
second incompatibility occurs when that youth returns to native places and finds his vision and values at strife with his native citizens.
such moral transfusions occur rapidly in a young liberalizing society such as ours.
when we try to decipher some bigger social issues like mass protects , it seems that an open society tries to aspire the level of smoothness in life as in other societies.
hence they feel continuous tendency for opposing and uprooting those systemic evils which cause that gap in life-style of two societies.

ship is stumbling, steward is mumbling…….

right from 1990’s, since when manmohan singh got proximity to power, India has been driven by a tendency of FDI based growth.

more FDI, more infrastructural growth, more jobs and overall elevation of society, that was the choco-dream offered to us by manmohonomics though it had shaken very roots of Inclusive Growth, fundamental  techno-economical solidarity and liberty of govt. to switch to common man oriented policies without much hulla-balloo.

entry of manmohan, opening of economy, rapid privatization are some phases which need a quick review and lessons must be learnt from them.

To ride a bubble of economic boom and getting narcissistic about it without even analyzing that how much fundamental devlopment it had conferred upon. there had been some voices regarding manmohan’s role as an world-bank’s agent who opened Indian market to expand consumer base of MNC‘S and redirected resources to train indians for being a good labor force, causing depression in labor cost and creating pseudo-employment without imparting true techno-entrepreneurial growth.

we need to review, revise our growth pattern and elicit some basic truths to remove the mask of deceptive indian economic growth and to defend our interests from this frankestien-monster of foreign led growth and predatory external capital.

survival of India—– 8th wonder

sometimes in many documentaries , we hear a phrase that-” most mystique thing in India is its survival in such critical conditions.”

survival,in real, is a term, which defines a support to human from outside, from machines, or from none but with in.

there is a large ” hue and cry”  about ” increasing viciousity of living conditions”,”severe corruption” etc, but when we try to decipher the utmost power that is helping us to ,live in such conditions,, then we get astonished.

the internal harmony, that intutional raze to support fellow human beings, is that strange power.

now a days, these type of feelings seem to be dormant and outdated kind, but believe me, in India , still people forget there land conflicts with their neighbors when he get sick,or have immediate need of help.

we may not have enough ambulances  but the nature of ours to stop and to help the victim, compensates that lack of ambulances.

we may not have audio visually supported high tech education , but the stories of dadi-nani, and cultural education imparted by our rich festivals and and traditions again makes us the best–” in terms of understanding the life” .

there is not enough no. of bars, amusement parks in India , but our mental frame which gets stress free by reading ramcharitmaans and shri mad bhagvad geeta , again fulfills that infrastructural drawback.

in real the patience and satisfaction , and most important the non materialistic view of life is the main strength and survival potential source.

“” LETS PRESERVE THIS PART OF INDIAN-SHIP”
