In our life , we set some short term and long term goals . We work hard , we Sail thru cut throat competition , we outsmart others and emerge victorious by achieving our goals .
If all this is so simple then why our generation lacks sense of satisfaction. Why eternal unsatisfaction is mandatory for our progress .
Is it impossible to improve while feeling happy in your present state ?
Does victory only means achieving your goals no matter what , or it should be something else ?
Is it so important to be victorious , is our happiness is dependent upon victory ?
These questions hover around certain paradoxes —
Paradox 1:
Victory of one is intertwined with defeated of others. So does it mean that for our happiness ( which is victory based ) we are bound to inflict grief on others ?
No man can win all battles . So someday someone will gain his happiness by defeating us . It means that no body can be eternally happy .
Hence only mean to have eternal happiness is to disconnect the illusionary bond between happiness and victory ( or accomplishment of goals ) .
Paradox 2:
It arises from paradox 1 itself . Happiness act as an incentive for hardwork . We think that if we work hard then we will be able to achieve our goals and in turn we will be happy . But paradox 1 says that achievement / victory can never give you eternal happiness ( or no happiness at all ) .
Then what should be the motivation for hardwork .
What should be the entity which may propel us to work harder ?
Paradox 3:
End mean debate :
For beginners , End signifies the goal and mean signifies the instruments / methods to achieve our goals .
Our victory seems tied with end only ( I.e with our goal ) . But thinkers like Gandhi ji say that no matter how good your end is , it can never justify a bad end .
Earlier discussed paradoxes again come into picture , if victory ( end ) can’t give you happiness , then a good mean may give it .
But what good a mean is if it can’t ensure your end ?
Message :
Simple message is that while we youngsters think that hardwork and achieving our goals are reasons to exist , it is not like that .
How we achieve our goals , may dominate the fact that have we ever achieved our goal .
We must not loose our humane face and balanced life style for victory .
A sucess shared is happiness , a failure well shouldered with near dear ones is also happiness .
A bloom of rose , on the face of all failures of life is also happiness .
Happiness have no connection with victory / accomplishments .
Understanding this simple fact is THE VICTORY.
Mind-boggling thoughts presented in awesome manner 🙂
Great thinking. content under the message are awesome.
Well explained.
That’s not a deep explanation of what victory is to human. The concluding rosy lines don’t even have congruence with the paradoxes you addressed in the beginning. I listen to spiritual gurus and i know better ways to lead a beautiful and balanced life. Gurus have better explained the true nature of knowledge, Nature, Victory and life. Although i respect your opinion but you still have to see a lot before you pen anything down.
